How to Build Your Skincare Routine for Success with LumeCeuticals

Navigating skincare can feel a little daunting (like, where do you even start?). That’s why I recommend beginning here. No matter what your skin concern is; blackheads, acne scars, fine lines, dryness, or dark circles... the secret to great skin is starting with the right daily skincare routine.

I have been in the skin industry for over 20 years, and we have always stood by the saying, "all you need is an A, B, C and an AHA", however, I've seen it happen again and again where clients are told to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise. I'm sure you've heard of this in marketing campaigns or passed down from your Mum or older sister. Yes, this is a very simple but outdated approach, that simply doesn't work.

So here is my Cheat's Guide to all the LumeCeuticals skincare products, a snapshot if you may, so that you can learn more about each product quickly and easily and start the process of understanding which products your skin needs.

The golden rule? Always begin with Step 1: Skin Preparation and Step 2: Skin Essentials. Stick with these building blocks for at least 3 months before adding in any extras. This ensures your skin is strong, balanced, and ready to absorb all the good stuff.

However, there is an exception to this rule...if your skin is inflamed, irritated, red, itchy, stripped or experiencing any skin barrier issues like eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, then I would have you start with only "the healers" - you can identify these products by their cream label with gold writing (I have also added an * beside the product name in this blog).

Let’s dive in...

Step 1: Skin Prep

Think of this step like brushing your teeth - you wouldn’t skip it, right? Same goes for cleansing - you need to clean your skin every morning and every night. Before your skin can drink up the good stuff, you need a clean canvas - skip it and nothing else works as well.

Immerse* A milky, acne-safe gentle cleanser for all skin types, balances your skin without stripping it.

Emulsify* A balm cleanser for sensitive skin and stubborn makeup (your new favourite fragrance-free skincare essential).

Polished Exfoliating paste for an instant pick-me-up. Helps refresh dull skin and can help get rid of blackheads fast.

Personally, I can't live without having two cleansers. One non-exfoliating and one exfoliating, as some days I like a creamy hydrating cleanser and other days I need something more exfoliating.

Step 2: Skin Essentials

These are your ride-or-die products, and this is where the magic starts - your skins building blocks. These essential vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C and AHA serums support healthy functioning skin. To target early concerns like dryness, pigmentation, congestion and fine lines, make sure you’re using one product from each category, once a day:

Vitamin A (night only) Retinal for Fine Lines & Pigmentation

Renew A gentle, creamy vitamin A serum (like a beginner-friendly retinol cream for fine lines). Perfect for dry or sensitive skin and even during pregnancy.

Reverse A quick-absorbing Vitamin A serum that helps fade acne scars, improve wrinkles, pigmentation, and sun damage. Ideal for serious ageing concerns, breakout-prone or oily skin.

Vitamin B (morning or night) – Niacinamide for Strength & Hydration

Vitality A medium-weight Vitamin B moisturiser. Hydrates, calms, and strengthens - a great non-comedogenic moisturiser for all skins.

Recharge A lightweight Vitamin B serum with serious anti-ageing benefits. The perfect niacinamide serum for acne and ageing concerns (not for sensitive skins).

Vitamin C (morning) – Brightening & Collagen Support

*(Skip if breakout-prone - swap for Fade)

Defend A Vitamin C powerhouse for brightening dull skin and protecting against pigmentation and sun damage. A true vitamin C serum brightening boost.

AHAs (night only) – Exfoliation & Breakout Control

*Exfoliating serums that stay on your skin

Accelerate Perfect for healing minor breakouts, marks, blemishes and dry skin congestion. This can be used in the morning for healthy skin.

Accelerate+ Stronger formula for stubborn pimples and oily skin (think of it as your hyperpigmentation treatment + breakout control).

Revitalise An exfoliating night serum that smooths while you sleep - ideal for drier skin types.

Step 3: The Extras

Targeted Actives

Once your foundation is solid, you can layer in these advanced actives depending on your skin concerns. And I know it's really tempting to rush into using products that are marketed specifically for a concern you have, i.e. wrinkles or pigmentation or acne, but please, for the quickest, most visible and long-term skin benefits, build on your foundation first, as this will follow you through the years.

Ageless* Wrinkle-smoothing serum to soften fine lines and a healing powerhouse (your go-to for wrinkle smoothing skincare), but not suitable for areas prone to breakouts.

Fade Potent pigment-blocking serum, perfect as a hyperpigmentation treatment.

Replenish* Moisturising milk to calm redness and inflammation, supporting even the most sensitive skin.

I recommend you use these once or twice a day depending on how stubborn your skin concern is. For example, I use Fade morning and night in Summer when my freckles are more prominent, but I only need to use it in the morning through winter.

Eye Care

The delicate skin around your eyes needs special attention, every morning and every night because honestly, they’ll give away your age before anything else. Whether you’re looking to prevent fine lines, reduce eye bags or brighten dark circles, these eye serums are specially formulated to tackle the unique skin around the eye area.

Defy Vitamin-rich, anti-ageing eye serum that deeply hydrates.

Awaken* Lightweight serum that helps firm, lift and reduce eye bags.

Illuminise* Instant firming + dark circle eye cream to brighten tired eyes.

Ok yes, I have all 3 eye serums (but skincare is my thing), and I choose the eye product that I feel like I need on the day - some days I'm puffy, some days I need immediate brightening and some days I mix 2 together.

Extra Hydration

As the saying goes, all you need is an A, B, C and an AHA. If your skin has all the correct vitamins it needs to thrive and function, it shouldn't need a moisturiser. BUT, I hear you. We don't live in a bubble, the weather changes and our skin changes, we get sick or run down and the list goes on, and sometimes your skin just needs that little something extra.

Hydrate* Deep-absorbing, super-lightweight serum - your best friend if you need a hyaluronic acid moisturiser-level of hydration.

Nourish* A non-greasy balm for very dry or sensitive skin (an amazing best moisturiser for sensitive skin option).

Glow* Hydrating, brightening and firming sheet mask, perfect pre-event, post-treatment, or post-flight.

I always have these on hand to add into my routine, once daily, twice daily, weekly, seasonally or post skin treatments, basically whenever my skin feels dry and like it needs more.

Body Love

Because skincare doesn’t stop at your jawline.

Revive A super softening and smoothing night-only body moisturiser for dry, ageing, sun-damaged skin, that needs an immediate glow and long-term correction.

Shield* Promotes an advanced skin healing environment to rapidly heal the skin to reduce redness and discolouration, whilst softening and flattening raised scars.

Remember this is about "building" a routine. I never want you to start all these products at once. A successful routine is about adding in a product at a time and listening, watching, and feeling your skin to see how it adjusts and what it may need next.

Focus on cleanser + ABC + AHA for your first 3 months, then build your routine from there.

Your skin is living, ever changing and, adapting - so let it thrive.
